Nice! I actually read about it yesterday on another site (BBC news). It's a tough call. In some developed countries, the decision is made on a case by case basis. I just hope the mental health services are doing their utmost to ensure he is given the basic needs of a happy life (social activities, etc); while also ensuring his safety and the safety of the public. From the reading, it seems like they are doing their best.
If you look at some underdeveloped countries however, simple treatable conditions often end up with similar tragic consequences due to poor management or lack of treatment from the onset. You see a glimpse of it in the first video posted (Mental Illness in Bali on Aug 21st for those who are interested)
I'm curious to know how Brandon's case escalated to such a grim prognosis. Perhaps delayed diagnosis and treatment played a role here.
